History & Background
Caritas Gambia was established in The Gambia by the Roman Catholic Church in 1977, and is a registered non-governmental, faith-based organisation. As the development wing of the Catholic Diocese of Banjul, its primary focus is delivering humanitarian aid, poverty relief, skills training, healthcare and rural agricultural development and coordinating the Church’s economic, social and development work aimed at achieving a more humane and just society irrespective of creed, colour, race or ideology.
